Thursday, April 10 10:00 am
MI Museum Spotlight programs give MMA members the chance to share their work with colleagues.
Mackinac State Historic Parks has grown their fundraising through strategic donor stewardship initiatives. Michelle Walk, Chief Development Officer, will share how their development program has grown over the last 6 years from primarily a membership program to a robust program that includes memberships, donors and sponsorships. Increasing the funds that their nonprofit friends group, Mackinac Associates, provides to Mackinac State Historic Parks on an annual basis nearly fourfold. We will look at how the program was structured, what has changed and what is next.
As the Chief Development Officer for Mackinac State Historic Parks, Michelle oversees all fundraising including oversight for their nonprofit friends group, Mackinac Associates. Michelle manages all membership programs, appeals, and sponsorships. Prior to joining Mackinac State Historic Parks in 2018, she had over 25 years of experience working in community development with a focus on nonprofits and tourism. Since joining Mackinac State Historic Parks she has helped to diversify the board of Mackinac Associates, increased the number of high-level members, increased engagement among all membership levels and increased the funding they are able to provide MSHP for projects each year.
