MI Museums: The Future is Now

Michigan Museums Association Annual Conference
October 13-15,2025

Greater Lansing, Michigan

Museums have a vital role to play in our constantly changing world. While the future may bring uncertainty, it also offers museums opportunities to innovate, reflect on their mission, and actively shape their role in an ever-evolving world.

This year’s conference aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to lead their institutions confidently into the future. We will also reflect on a decade of transformation as we revisit predictions made at the 2015 conference for what museums would look like in 2025 and explore the current realities of those visions.

As museums face an era of rapid transformation, we will come together to consider the following questions and more:

  • How can the Michigan museum community evolve to ensure a sustainable, inclusive, and impactful future and embrace the possibilities ahead with confidence and creativity?
  • How can we as museums professionals navigate today’s challenges and opportunities while shaping a bold and inspiring future?
  • How will we adapt to shifting visitor expectations, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and address pressing social issues?
  • What ideas and issues that have been permeating in the field are beginning to manifest now and how do we embrace the opportunities and challenges they present?

Thank you to our Partners!
